Time for a respite from all things pragmatic.  In any given season the runways will be rife with neutral palettes, black figuring heavily, and streamlined silhouettes. These are garments for everyday wear, to keep one clothed and unobtrusive.  We all tend to live in these elements.

And then, there are the audacious, sometimes dreamy, occasionally ostentatious, show stopping testaments to artisanal craftsmanship, designer ingenuity, and razzle dazzle eclecticism.

FROM NEW YORK FASHION WEEK, FALL WINTER 2016:

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO:

FULL THROTTLE vigorous and vibrant! Not for the faint of heart.

LIBERTINE:

Johnson Hartig, master of high whimsy!

ALTUZARRA:

Striking and chic, perpetually alluring.

ANNA SUI:

Engaging Bohemian.

RODARTE:

Vintage feminine with an edge.

DELPOZO:

Voluminous, dramatic, harkening back to the old school couturiers.

MONIQUE LHUILLIER:

A scarlet confection for the RED CARPET.

JENNY PACKHAM:

A metaphorical wearable disco glitter ball.

LELA ROSE:

New age Audrey Hepburn.

NAEEM KHAN:

Avant-garde opulence.

MARCHESA:

Peachy layered Nudibranch ruffles......diaphanous and fairy tale glorious.

REEM ACRA:

Latter day armor with sculpted duchesse satin, just another example of the supreme gown acumen of Reem Acra.

RALPH LAUREN:

A standout of the fall winter runways.  Long and dramatic in a luscious royal blue velvet made even MORE regal with gold floral embroidery.  Wear to an opening in lieu of a gown OR over jeans and shoe booties.  The perfect adjunct to such a grand beauty?  THE RUFFLED BLOUSE!
